SURGE Pro League (SPL) has announced its Season 2 return, cementing its position as a regional hub for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Esports across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. In line with the 2026 MLBB Esports Roadmap, SPL serves as a platform to empower regional talent and develop the region’s esports competitive ecosystem. Launched by SURGE Europe and MOONTON Games in 2026, the recently-concluded SPL Season 1 brought together eight professional teams from Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Türkiye.

Jaroslav Melišek, Co-Founder from SURGE Europe, said “What started as a way to give the WEU region experience with international teams has evolved into the first step toward creating an MLBB Esports HUB. This hub will serve as a melting pot for the entire EMEA to exchange experiences and provide a mid-tier platform for our regions to experiment before stepping onto the big leagues and international stage. I believe this is crucial because in each EMEA region; EECA, Turkey, MENA, and WEU, the skill gap between the top-performing team and the last-place team in local leagues remains very wide. Bringing top teams from each region together to compete generates invaluable data and experience for everyone involved.”

Strengthening the regional MLBB ecosystem

Invited teams such as Team Spirit, Aurora Gaming, Verso Time, Team Falcons, FUT Esports, and AXE Okami brought valuable experience to SPL, establishing a high competitive benchmark for the tournament. For European representatives Extremely Slay and Boars Gaming, SPL Season 1 served as an important developmental platform. Competing against more experienced rosters allowed them to gain key gameplay insights and adapt to high-pressure competitive scenarios.

Broadcasts on YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok drew significant attention from across the regions, reaching a total of 510,000 livestream views and 9,060 Peak Concurrent Viewers (PCV). Delivered in four languages, the tournament reinforced its role as a region-wide platform, connecting diverse audiences and strengthening regional engagement. SURGE’s cinematic trailer amplified the hype, transforming SPL into an international launchpad for emerging and established pros alike.

Building on a successful debut, SURGE Europe has confirmed SPL Season 2 for the second half of 2026. The upcoming season is expected to introduce open qualifiers for each major region, allowing a broader range of teams to compete for a spot, while also expanding the overall format to further strengthen regional representation and competitive depth. More information will be announced at a later date.

Ondrej Bobula, Co-Founder from SURGE Europe, said “Players, fans, and teams were all highly satisfied and so was our entire team, which did an outstanding job. MOONTON Games also played a key role by providing essential connections to each region and supporting local casters. We’re seeing clear proof that this EMEA model works, bringing countries together under one competitive ecosystem. We are fully committed to expanding this EMEA hub even further in the future to unite all MLBB fans. Watch out for SURGE PRO LEAGUE Season 2!”

Vladislav Samokha, EECA Esports Ecosystem Lead from MOONTON Games, said: “'SPL Season 1 successfully showcased what we're trying to achieve in EMEA. Instead of separate regions operating in isolation, the tournament was a step toward developing a connected competitive ecosystem where teams can regularly test themselves against a wider range of opponents. A big part of that success comes from how SURGE has brought everything together—from building a unified regional framework to ensuring broadcasts and competition standards are aligned throughout. Overall, the tournament was a strong step forward for the region, and SPL is helping to bring our vision of a unified EMEA MLBB Esports ecosystem to life.”

Amr “Kakashi” Wafed, Team Manager Team Falcons, said: “We believe SPL is a great tournament that successfully brought together strong teams from across the EMEA region. The invited teams were highly competitive, which made the overall level of play very enjoyable. We truly enjoyed participating and competing in such a well-structured event, and we appreciate the effort put into organizing it.”

Ekaterina Ustinova, Team Manager Team Spirit, said: “We were really glad to be a part of SPL. Huge thanks to the organizers for the opportunity to play against teams from different regions and be part of such a wide EMEA competition. We truly appreciated the experience and will be looking forward to the next season.”

Vladimir Gonchar, Head Coach Verso Time, said: “We think that this tournament is an amazing opportunity to try the teams right before the new season starts, to understand the power level in the western scene, and for the whole EMEA it should become the prestige tournament to participate in!”
