Bigetron by Vitality (BTR) have been crowned champions of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Indonesia Season 17 after shocking the world and defeating ONIC ID (ONIC) 4-1 in the Grand Finals. The victory closes another defining season for MPL Indonesia, one that reinforced the league's position not only as Indonesia's premier esports competition, but as a platform where sport, youth culture, creative economy, and national pride intersect.
With the season concluded, Indonesia now turns its attention to the international stage. BTR and ONIC will represent Indonesia at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC), while Team Vitality will carry Indonesia's hopes at the MLBB Women's International (MWI). Together, the three teams will continue Indonesia's pursuit of global honours across both men's and women's MLBB esports.
Indonesia's international campaign begins with MSC, MWI, and the Asian Games
MSC remains Mobile Legends: Bang Bang's (MLBB) peak mid-season global competition, bringing together the world's strongest teams for a USD 3 million prize pool. For BTR and ONIC, qualification is more than a reward for their domestic campaign. It is the next test of Indonesia's ambition to reclaim its place among the world's leading MLBB regions.
The MWI campaign carries its own significance. As one of the world's leading women's mobile esports tournaments, MWI gives Team Vitality the stage to continue Indonesia's growing presence in women's MLBB esports. Their participation reflects the depth of the country's talent pool and the widening pathways for women athletes to compete, win, and represent Indonesia globally.
Indonesia's international push will also extend to the Asian Games. Together with PBESI and Indonesian badminton legend Liliyana Natsir, Syauki "Nino" Sumarno, and Kenny "Xepher" Deo of the Indonesian MLBB national team shared their excitement and determination to represent the country on one of Asia's biggest sporting stages.
"I want to make my country proud in my own way, and that way is by playing Mobile Legends", said Nino, representing the Indonesian MLBB national team.
Liliyana, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist, also shared that the mindset of esports athletes is no different from that of traditional athletes. Whether on the court or in-game, the goal remains the same: to bring glory to Indonesia. The season may have ended, but Indonesia's pursuit of international glory is only beginning.
MPL ID Season 17 Playoffs brings culture, fashion, and youth identity to the stage
For the first time, MPL Indonesia introduced a Tunnel Walk inspired by global sports arrival culture. Players, KOLs, and restreamers stepped beyond their team jerseys to express their personal style through streetwear and fashion, turning the Playoffs arrival moment into a visual crossover between gaming, lifestyle, and youth culture.
The Tunnel Walk also marked the concept debut of "Originals", a new MLBB Esports IP initiative designed to bridge competitive esports with fashion culture. Featuring players such as ONIC's Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol, Bigetron's Manuel "Nnael" Simbolon, EVOS's Hengky "Kyy" Gunawan, the initiative positions MLBB athletes not only as competitors, but as cultural figures who influence how the next generation watches, dresses, and engages with esports.
Ekraf Collaboration
The Grand Finals also marked the next step in MPL Indonesia's collaboration with Tale X, supported by the Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf), which positions the league as a “Creative Playground” for Indonesian intellectual property and creative talent.
As part of the collaboration, Irene Umar, Vice Minister of Creative Economy of Indonesia, officially debuted Suga, MPL ID's first mascot. Her presence marked Ekraf's continued support for using esports as a platform to elevate Indonesian creativity, connect local IPs with mass audiences, and bring cultural storytelling into one of the country's most-watched entertainment ecosystems.
Rooted in Indonesian identity, Suga represents MPL ID as a league shaped by local culture, community pride, and creative expression. The mascot marks a new step in how MPL Indonesia connects esports with storytelling, character development, and the wider creative economy.
Through this initiative, MPL Indonesia continues to serve as a platform for local creators and IPs to reach mass audiences. By bringing Indonesian creative works into one of the country's most-watched esports ecosystems, the collaboration supports a broader national ambition to strengthen Indonesia's creative identity and bring it to wider audiences.
Bigetron by Vitality completes long-awaited breakthrough
After years of fluctuating results, roster changes, and repeated playoff heartbreaks, the Red Robot finally broke the stigma that had followed them for seasons. BTR's campaign was built on the spirit of "Trust the Process", a belief shaped by patience, continuity, and faith in the foundation the team had built over the years. As one of the few organisations that have competed in MPL Indonesia since its inaugural season, Bigetron entered the Grand Finals carrying more than title ambitions. They carried the weight of a long-awaited breakthrough.
Against ONIC ID, they left no doubt. Bigetron delivered a commanding 4-1 victory over one of the league's most decorated teams, closing the season with authority and claiming their first MPL Indonesia title in the organisation's history. With the win, they also became the first team to be crowned with the prestigious "KINGFINIX" title, introduced this season by Infinix as the Presenting Partner of MPL Indonesia.
Mid laner Marcel "Moreno" Sinulingga was named Finals Most Valuable Player, capping a standout performance on the Grand Finals stage.
ONIC's Skylar and Kelra step up as Season 41 Ambassadors
MPL Indonesia also unveiled ONIC's Schevenko "Skylar" Tendean and Grant Duane "Kelra" Pillas as the official ambassadors for MLBB Season 41. Every MLBB season, two ambassadors are selected to accompany players throughout the season. One serves as a community representative who guides players through new content and updates, while the other represents the highest level of competitive play and helps bridge the gap between professional and everyday gameplay.
Skylar and Kelra take over the role from Kairi and JessNoLimit, becoming the latest faces of MLBB's ongoing effort to connect professional esports and the wider community.
The conclusion of MPL Indonesia Season 17 arrives during MLBB's 10th anniversary year, a milestone that reflects the game's evolution from a mobile title into one of the world's most influential esports ecosystems. In Indonesia, that growth has been shaped by players, teams, creators, restreamers, fans, partners, and local creative communities. Season 17 showed how MPL ID continues to expand beyond competition, becoming a stage for national pride, youth culture, fashion, entertainment, and creative storytelling.
