PHNOM PENH, 1 June – International gaming developer and publisher MOONTON Games has teamed up with Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MOEYS) for the upcoming ASEAN Paralympic Games 2023. Through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm MOONTON Cares, the company aims to launch different initiatives to amplify the federation's campaign for athletes with health conditions or impairments.
Last 27 May 2023, MOONTON Cares and MOEYS mounted a workshop that took place in Legend Olympia Mall, Phnom Penh. With the topic "Esports as a career for all," the event welcomed over 100 students and shared how differently-abled individuals can take up space and land a job in the esports industry. The seminar was led by Burn X Flash team manager Lee Xin, Cambodian Esports Paralympian Kheng Sophorn, and MOEYS representative Duong Meas Chamroeun.
"At MOONTON Cares, we always put inclusivity amidst diversity in everything we do. As an industry leader, we ensure to make esports a space that provides equal opportunities for everyone, despite differences in our capabilities," said Ray Ng, MOONTON Games Head of Esports Ecosystem.
"Esports really helps in terms of knowledge, and information, and helps the players to reduce stress in their daily work, they can get into gaming and what they enjoy and stay far from bad influences. More than that, the esports industry can give opportunities for them so they can land jobs in the future and earn from the things they love doing," said MOEYS Deputy General Director Duong Meas Chamroeun.
Apart from the workshop, MOONTON Cares and MOEYS will also invite students to visit the Para Games and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023 set in June 2023. Participants will be given a tour of the backstage, production room, and player rooms to immerse them in the operation that goes to mount an official esports broadcast show.
MOONTON Cares will also invite Para Games players to attend its MSC Gala scheduled on 8 June 2023 to strengthen their bond with each other. A fun activity awaits participants such as team logo pins and jersey exchanges.
The ASEAN Paralympic is scheduled from 4-5 June 2023 with four participating countries namely the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
On the other hand, MSC 2023 will commence from 10 - 19 June, 2023. Fans can register for FREE passes from WOWNOW site. A limited-edition MSC shirt and official merchandise items will also be sold to fans on the ground.
