Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 17 concluded with Team Liquid Philippines (TLPH) becoming the first team to secure the first three consecutive championship titles. TLPH edged out Team Falcons (FLCN) in their best-of-seven (bo7) match before a packed San Juan Arena, capping off another landmark season for Philippine esports.

The championship run showcased the high level of competition that has made the Philippines one of the world's strongest MLBB regions. TLPH was bestowed the league's first-ever MPL Philippines Championship Rings by Fairrie and the lion's share of the USD 150,000 (PHP 9.2 million) prize pool. Both teams secured their place among the country's representatives at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 in Paris, where they will compete against the best MLBB teams from around the globe.

The event drew significant engagement from fans, generating a record-breaking 33,125,740 hours watched and reaching 1,695,073 peak concurrent viewers, according to Esports Charts. MPL PH Season 17 also attracted a sold-out crowd of over 10,000 spectators and 13,000 Superfan City participants across the Grand Finals weekend.

Lee Viloria, Head of Business Development and Partnerships, Esports, Philippines, at MOONTON Games, said: "MPL Philippines Season 17 has shown once again why the Philippines remains one of the strongest and most passionate MLBB communities in the world. Through our 'Palag Na 'To' campaign, we sought to celebrate the courage of Filipinos to take opportunities, overcome challenges, and pursue their ambitions—values that resonate deeply within esports and beyond."

"The incredible support from fans throughout the season and the success of our athletes on the competitive stage demonstrate the impact of that mindset. As our representatives prepare to compete on the world stage, we hope they carry with them the same 'Palag Na 'To' spirit that has inspired millions of Filipinos: the confidence to step forward, compete with heart, and show the world what Filipino talent can achieve."

Philippine Senator and longtime esports advocate Bam Aquino graced the send-off ceremony for the country's MLBB athletes as they head to Paris, France, to represent the Philippines at the Esports World Cup and defend their championship crown on the global stage.

Beyond the competition, the MPL PH Season 17 Grand Finals also served as a ceremonial send-off for the Filipino athletes preparing to represent the nation on the international stage. Honored before the crowd were the country's representatives for the MSC and MLBB Women's Invitational (MWI) at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 in Paris, France, as well as the national delegation competing in the 20th Asian Games Qualifiers in Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore.

In attendance were representatives from the Philippine Esports Organization (PESO), the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), SEA Games gold medalist and mixed martial artist Mark 'Mugen' Striegl, and Philippine Senator Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV, a known advocate for esports and gaming in the country, highlighting the growing recognition of esports as a platform for national representation, youth development, and international achievement.

Alongside the MPL Philippines representatives bound for the Esports World Cup, NAVI PH—the Philippine representative for the MWI after clinching the Athena Cup Season 2 title in Tagaytay—and members of the national delegation preparing for the Asian Games were formally recognised before the packed crowd. The ceremony celebrated their achievements and highlighted their role as ambassadors of Philippine excellence on the international stage.

The send-off underscored the growing stature of esports in the country, as Filipino athletes continue to represent the Philippines in some of the world's most prestigious competitions. Building on a legacy of success across regional and global tournaments, these players carry not only the nation's flag but also the aspirations of a rapidly growing esports community.

(Translation: "Over the past decade, we have seen how esports has become one of the ways to create equal opportunities for Filipinos. Anyone with a smartphone and internet access can participate in the world of esports. Today, we are seeing young Filipinos become professional athletes, streamers, and content creators.

Beyond the players, the esports ecosystem opens doors to opportunities in game development, production, and digital marketing. It creates high-quality jobs that harness the creativity and technological expertise of Filipinos. When we see young Filipinos competing on the world stage, they are not just playing—they are building careers and proving that Filipino talent is world-class.")

The growing recognition of esports extends beyond the competitive arena. In February this year, the Philippine Senate held a courtesy call with MLBB esports athletes who recently won in the MLBB events at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA Games) and the M7 World Championship in 2025, marking a milestone moment that reflects the growing institutional recognition of esports within one of the world's most competitive MLBB regions.

Celebrating the Filipino esports community

MPL Philippines Season 17 continued to evolve into a community-driven esports festival, introducing new experiences and partnerships that brought fans closer to the league, its teams, and the wider gaming ecosystem.

A key milestone this season was MPL Philippines' partnership with Fairrie, a Gen-Z jewellery and watch brand dedicated to gaming and esports. The collaboration marked the league's first partnership with an international jewellery brand, resulting in the introduction of the official MPL Philippines Championship Rings.

During the Playoffs, MPL Philippines transformed the venue into MPL Superfan City, featuring fan activities, meet-and-greets, exclusive merchandise, and interactive experiences. Fans were also gifted with a new MPL PH theme song Palag Na 'To and merchandise collection through the partnership with Universal Music Group Philippines, bringing the season's campaign to life while celebrating the fighting spirit of the Filipino esports community.

Sponsor and team activations further enhanced the festival atmosphere. Infinix hosted FANSIKLABAN, a community tournament where fans represented their favorite MPL teams, while Smart continued its Battle Trips program, offering educational sessions on esports broadcasting, journalism, event management, and content creation. Returning partner Unilever's Clear also strengthened fan engagement through on-site activations, giveaways, and interactive experiences.
