The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Continental Championships (MCC) returns for Season 8 under the global spotlight following Team Spirit's historic breakthrough at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC)! Reigning MCC champions, Team Spirit, lifted the MSC at EWC 26 title to become the first team outside Southeast Asia to win an official international MLBB tournament.

Their victory marks a defining milestone for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) and the continued global expansion of MLBB Esports, reflecting the growing competitive strength of regions beyond the game's traditional strongholds. As MCC enters Season 8, teams will look to build on that breakthrough as MLBB Esports strengthens its regional pathways to the global stage.

Team Spirit's title run extended a run of strong international results for EECA. The seven-time MCC champions defeated Yangon Galacticos, 4–3, in the Grand Finals to secure the US$1 million prize. Their triumph made EECA only the fourth region to lift the MSC trophy, after powerhouses Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Their result also reflects MCC's role as a regional competitive pathway capable of developing athletes who can contend for major international titles.

Two seasons ago, Virtus.pro worked their way through MCC before going on to win the MSC at EWC 25 Wild Card on their first international appearance. Last season, Verso Time also broke through to secure their first international qualification. These are important signs of progress because our goal with MCC has always been to give teams the competition and experience they need to perform internationally. We are now seeing more teams reach that level and Team Spirit have shown what is possible at the top. The next step is to make sure this is something the region can sustain and to develop more teams that can challenge for major titles."

That progress now returns to MCC, where Season 8 teams will compete in a league whose defending champions hold one of MLBB Esports' biggest international titles. For MCC's challengers, Season 8 offers the opportunity to test themselves against a team that has proven capable of defeating the world's best, while strengthening the level of competition that will determine EECA's next international MLBB representatives.

EECA's breakthrough reflects MLBB Esports' global growth

Team Spirit's victory marked a significant milestone in the continued globalisation of MLBB Esports. Their win saw them emerge as the first team outside Southeast Asia to win an official international MLBB tournament. The result comes as MLBB Esports continues to roll out its five-region structure, which spans Southeast Asia (SEA), EECA, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), East Asia (EA), and the Americas (AMER). The framework is designed to strengthen regional ecosystems through dedicated infrastructure and talent development pathways, while connecting teams to a wider international competitive circuit.

EECA's progression from an emerging region to producing an MSC champion reflects the continued development of MLBB's regional ecosystem. The title's international expansion will continue with the M8 World Championship (M8) Finals in Istanbul, Türkiye, in January 2027 as its staging marks the M Series' European debut.

Another historic first within reach

Team Spirit's MSC victory also places another unprecedented achievement within reach for EECA. Having won MCC Season 7 and MSC at EWC 26, the team remains in contention for the Golden Road—the feat of winning all major domestic and international MLBB Esports titles within a single competitive year. A successful title defence in MCC Season 8 would keep that pursuit alive ahead of the M8. No MLBB team has completed the Golden Road to date, giving Team Spirit a pathway to become the first should they reign regional champions once again.

Before then, Team Spirit will return to MCC to defend their regional title against teams looking to build on EECA's recent international success. Season 8 will feature eight teams competing from 28 August to 31 October. The Regular Season will run across six weekends until 4 October, followed by the Playoffs from 9 to 31 October. Teams will compete for a share of the US$40,000 prize pool and for the opportunity to represent MCC at the M8 in January 2027.
