M6 World Championship concludes – unbeaten world champions, M7 announced, new MLBB logo, and more!

The M6 World Championship (M6) achieved a groundbreaking milestone as the most-watched M Series edition ever, boasting over 85 million watch hours and a 66% increase in Average Viewers (709,919), according to Esports Charts. Recently concluded in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the tournament saw ONIC Philippines (formerly Fnatic ONIC PH) defeat Team Liquid Indonesia (TLID) 4-1 to secure the Philippines' fifth consecutive title. The team's unbeaten run claimed them the lion's share of the USD 1 million prize pool and was witnessed by over 7,000 offline spectators and peaking at 4.129 million Peak Concurrent Viewers (PCV) concurrent viewers.

During the Grand Finals, it was announced that the M Series will return to Jakarta, Indonesia, for the M7 World Championship in January 2026. This marks an exciting opportunity to showcase Indonesian talent on the global stage in the country home to the largest MLBB fanbase. With Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Indonesia Season 14 ranked as the most popular MPL event of all time, the return of the M Series to Jakarta is poised to create an unforgettable celebration of esports and showcase the enthusiasm of the Indonesian esports community.

MOONTON Games also unveiled a new MLBB logo, with flame-like details inspired by our gamers' burning passion and competitive spirit. Finally, the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2025 and MLBB Women's Invitational (MWI) 2025 will be part of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 from July to August. Look forward to a calendar year filled with MLBB esports action! 

MLBB emerged as the biggest winners of the 2024 MOBIES!

MLBB took home the most wins at the 2024 MOBIES, snagging three awards! MLBB was named "Most Competitive Game of the Year," the M5 World Championship won "Live Event of the Year," and Falcons AP.Bren earned "Mobile Team of the Year." Plus, the MLBB community was in the running for five other nominations, including "Mobile Game of the Year" and "Developer of the Year"!

M6 wasn't just about esports action! It also brought together a vibrant mix of global and local brand partners across industries like fashion, food and beverage, financial services, and endemic brands. Long-standing partners such as Qiddiya, ASUS ROG, and Secretlab extended their successful collaborations from M5, while new additions like Fairrie – M6's Timekeeper and Jewelry Partner – and Meiji's iconic Japanese snack brand, Hello Panda, joined the lineup. These partners leveraged M6 as a platform to connect with MLBB esports' global audience, reaching passionate gamers and esports enthusiasts worldwide.

Throughout the three-week tournament, our partners engaged fans through a mix of broadcast and on-ground activations which saw over 4.1 million concurrent online viewers and over 42,000 attendees. A highlight was the M6 Carnival, a fan festival during the Grand Finals weekend, which featured a host of family-friendly booths, music performances by artisits like Kowachee, KLP 48, and Dolla, KOL appearances, and a spectacular fireworks and drone show. With eight partners delivering engaging activations, 80% of attendees shared that these activations significantly enhanced their enjoyment of the tournament experience.

Qiddiya elevated the Grand Finals Opening Ceremony with a memorable performance by Malaysian artist, Faizal Tahir, and the Kuala Lumpur Orchestra, who brought the official theme song, Game Never Over, to life. This captivating production tied seamlessly to Qiddiya's mission of delivering immersive gaming and esports experiences worldwide.

Additionally, Fairrie seized the spotlight during the winning moment to present the first-ever customized Championship Medal and Rings to the M6 champions, creating a memorable impact on the global MLBB audience!

Discovering the sights of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with Hotlink and Tourism Malaysia!

MOONTON Games recently partnered with Hotlink and Tourism Malaysia during M6 to give international media a unique experience of Kuala Lumpur's iconic landmarks. The tour included cultural, natural, and culinary highlights, with a sharing by Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, on M6's impact on Malaysia's tourism. Thanks to Hotlink and Tourism Malaysia, the media were able to stay connected, showcasing Malaysia's attractions to their audiences, and contribute to the growth of esports tourism ahead of the next M-Series in Jakarta, Indonesia! Overall, the tour generated over USD 160,000 in advertising value equivalency, further reinforcing the powerful synergy between media, esports, and tourism!

Soloz: Game of Life makes history as Malaysia's first esports movie hits the big screen

Gaming and esports step into the spotlight! Malaysia recently celebrated a milestone in esports and entertainment with the premiere of its first esports movie, Soloz: Game of Life, on 23 January. The film, directed by the award-winning director, Syafiq Yusof, and featuring local stars Hun Haqeem and Ikmal Amry, tells the inspiring story of MLBB star, Faris "Soloz" Zakaria. Production company, Key Billions Sdn Bhd, collaborated closely with MOONTON Games, particularly on the animation, to seamlessly incorporate familiar in-game elements into the big screen. These additions heightened the drama and fully immerse the audience in Soloz's journey and the world of MLBB. Screened in 136 theatres nationwide, the movie highlights Soloz's rise to fame while reflecting gaming's increasing presence as mainstream entertainment and a source of inspiration for the youth.

Highly-anticipated 决胜巅峰 launches in China

The Chinese version of MLBB, 决胜巅峰, officially launched in China on 23 January. As the world’s most popular mobile Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, MLBB makes its long-awaited return to China after its global debut in 2016. This launch opens a new chapter for Chinese gamers, welcoming them to the global MLBB gaming and esports community and adding a fresh wave of competitiveness to the scene. Exciting developments are on the horizon! In the first half of 2025, 决胜巅峰 will host two professional invitational tournaments and a qualification tournament for the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2025. Additionally, the 决胜巅峰 Chinese Professional League will debut in the second half of 2025, with its champions set to represent the region at the upcoming M7 World Championship in Jakarta, Indonesia!

Magic Chess: Go Go surpasses 15 million global registrations; soft-launched in Malaysia and Singapore

Magic Chess: Go Go (MCGG) was one of the most highly anticipated mobile titles of 2024, garnering over 15 million pre-registrations ahead of its soft launch in Malaysia and Singapore. MCGG is a free-to-play, casual mobile game that combines auto-chess and strategy, set in the world of MLBB. Initially introduced as a game mode within MLBB, Magic Chess' overwhelming popularity led to its release as a standalone mobile app. Get ready for MCGG's official launch and esports ecosystem in 2025.

Indonesia's MLBB team secured first-ever women's event gold medal at the Asian Esports Games

Indonesia claimed gold at the inaugural 2024 Asian Esports Games (AEG), winning the MLBB women's tournament with an unbeaten run! The tournament was the sole women's esports event and marked a record-level of participation with 20 teams, giving women athletes the chance to bring pride to their nations through esports. With 326,080 PCV, the tournament became the most-watched women's esports event of 2024, highlighting MOONTON Games' leadership in championing women in esports! 

Players get a taste of professional esports with the new MLBB Rising Open (MRO)

MRO is an upgraded version of the MLBB Competitive League (MCL), offering players worldwide the chance to engage in competitive gaming that mirrors the professional esports scene. With the theme "The One From Everyone," MRO serves as an in-game tournament platform designed to uncover top players while immersing them in the thrill of esports. Players can join MRO matches, earn exclusive in-game rewards, and unlock honorary in-game titles. With its accessible and rewarding format, MRO is set to elevate the competitive gaming experience for all players!
