The Regular Season Opening Ceremony presented by Infinix kicks off on 27 March, with the Regular Season running through 24 May 2026.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Indonesia returns for Season 17, opening a new chapter against the most significant backdrop in the league's history. In January, Jakarta hosted the most-watched mobile esports tournament in history, the M7 World Championship, placing the nation at the centre of global esports attention and reinforcing Indonesia's role as a leading force in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) ecosystem.

Season 17 builds on that moment. The league enters a new phase with higher expectations, stronger global relevance, and a clear ambition to continue setting the standard for mobile esports. As MLBB expands into a new five-region structure, MPL Indonesia remains one of its most competitive and culturally influential leagues, shaping both the level of play and the identity of the game worldwide. The regular season will run from 27 March to 24 May 2026.

Competition meets culture: The MPL Indonesia Season 17 Opening Ceremony

Season 17 will open with a Regular Season Opening Ceremony presented by Infinix, continuing MPL Indonesia's approach of blending esports with local culture. The ceremony brings together elements of Indonesian creative expression and live production, reflecting how the league has evolved into more than just competition, but a platform for cultural storytelling. The opening is built around a simple idea: MPL Indonesia is bigger than the nine teams on stage.

The ceremony celebrates every part of the ecosystem that made the league what it is. The superfans whose passion fills the arena week after week, the restreamers who bring the competition to millions watching at home, and the production team working behind the scenes. This will be a league showcase honouring fans in a way that's never been done before.

Together, they form the identity of MPL Indonesia. It is a shared sense of ownership between players, fans, and creators that has come to define the league, and the spirit behind what MPL Indonesia stands for: WeOwnThis.

The ceremony closes with SanZ of ONIC Esports carrying the Immortal Cup onto the stage. This will represent a moment that doubles as both tribute and reset, because this season, the stakes have never been higher.

As the Presenting Partner, Infinix will also introduce the "KINGFINIX" title, a new recognition awarded to the season's champions. The title raises the stakes for the competition and reinforces the idea that MPL Indonesia is not only producing champions, but defining icons of the esports era.

MLBB as a national sport, culture, and economic driver

The growth of MPL Indonesia reflects a broader shift in how esports is positioned within the country. With continued support from national stakeholders, MLBB has evolved beyond a game into a recognised sport and cultural platform, engaging millions of players and fans across Indonesia.

Recent engagements with national and regional bodies, alongside ongoing partnerships with organisations such as EKRAF and regional esports federations, reflect a shared commitment to developing a sustainable esports ecosystem. These efforts support talent development, strengthen industry standards, and expand opportunities across Indonesia's digital and creative economy.

Cherry Xia, Vice President and Head of Publishing and Esports at MOONTON Games, said: "MOONTON Games has been in the Indonesian market for over 10 years. We feel we have a responsibility to help grow the gaming industry and the internet industry in Indonesia."

MPL Indonesia is no longer just a competition. It is a national institution—one that shapes how Indonesian youth are seen by the world, and how they see themselves.

A season of rivalry, redemption, and rising power

Season 17 opens with shifting power across the league and no clear favourite. Alter Ego returns as one of the most closely watched teams after their breakthrough run at M7. Known for their aggressive style and resilience, they now face a new challenge. No longer underdogs, they must prove they can sustain their form over a full season and establish themselves as title contenders.

Alter Ego beats SRG to become Grand Finalists of M7

ONIC Esports remain the benchmark of MPL Indonesia. Dominant at home since Season 10, they continue to set the standard for consistency. This season, the question is whether that dominance can translate into a more complete identity as expectations extend beyond domestic success.

For RRQ Hoshi, the stakes are different. After missing the Playoffs for the first time in their history, one of Indonesia's most iconic teams enters the season under pressure. Season 17 becomes a test of whether they can rebuild, redefine their identity, and return to contention.

Across the league, every match carries weight. The outcome of this season will shape not just a champion, but the next chapter of Indonesia's presence on the global stage.

This season's challengers are:

  1. Alter Ego Esports (AE)

  2. Bigetron Esports (BTR)

  3. DEWA United Esports (DEWA)

  4. EVOS

  5. Geek Fam (GEEK)

  6. Natus Vincere (NAVI)

  7. ONIC ID (ONIC)

  8. RRQ Hoshi (RRQ)

  9. Team Liquid ID (TLID)

A decade of growth, a future of opportunity

Season 17 takes place as MLBB approaches its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of growth that has transformed it into one of the world's most influential mobile esports titles. For Indonesia, that anniversary carries a particular weight. This country's players and fans have been part of the game's story from the beginning, being a significant part of what pushed MLBB to the heights it occupies globally today.

The league built from that foundation is now, 10 years on, one of the most-watched sports competitions on the planet. Season 17 is both a celebration of that journey and a challenge to every team stepping onto the stage: the league has earned its place in global esports. Now prove you own it.
