Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) marked its 10th anniversary in Surabaya from 9-11 October with the ALL IN MLBB 10th Anniversary Festival, bringing players, communities, and the developer team together for a celebration rooted in player connection.

The festival highlighted one of the principles behind MLBB's decade-long growth: staying close to players and building the game with the community. For MOONTON Games, Surabaya was not only a celebration venue, but a chance for the developers behind MLBB to meet Indonesian players face-to-face, hear their stories, and reflect on the role local communities have played in shaping the game.

Since launching in 2016 with only 10 heroes, MLBB has grown into one of the world's most played mobile games, with 133 heroes, 42 season updates, 24 casual game modes, and more than 1.5 billion installations globally. Its esports ecosystem has also reached major international stages in 2026, including the International Olympic Committee-sanctioned Asian Games, MSC's European debut at EWC 2026 in Paris, and the road to the M8 World Championship Finals in Istanbul.

Indonesia's community takes centre stage in MLBB's 10-year milestone

Indonesia has played an important role in MLBB's 10-year journey. When MLBB first launched in Indonesia in 2016, early player support and word-of-mouth helped encourage a development team that had only dozens of members at the time. That support became part of MLBB's growth from a game loved by Indonesian players into a community shared by players around the world.

Over the years, that connection has taken many forms. Heroes such as Gatotkaca and Kadita brought Indonesian culture and stories into the Land of Dawn, while programmes such as Golden Month's "BUKBAR Berbagi Kebaikan" showed how MLBB could create positive community moments beyond gameplay.

The Surabaya festival continued that relationship offline. Through developer meet-ups, gameplay sessions, the gong-striking ceremony, and familiar group activities such as the sarong relay, players and developers shared a space to celebrate the memories and community ties built over the past decade.

These moments brought MLBB's 10th anniversary beyond the screen, giving players and developers a shared space to celebrate the memories built over the past decade.

"For me, every time we meet players and hear their genuine feelings about MLBB, it reminds us again of why we insist on making this game better", said Roger, Vice President and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Producer at MOONTON Games. "The 10th anniversary is not just a moment to look back on the past, but also the starting point of the next leg of the journey."

Looking to the Next Decade

The Surabaya festival forms part of MLBB's wider 10th anniversary celebration, reflecting on the players, communities, and teams who shaped the game's first decade.

As MLBB looks ahead, the message remains clear: the game's growth has always been built with players, and its next chapter begins by staying close to the communities that helped make the first 10 years possible.
